Five Fruit Bowl Tips for Back Garden Camping
The Summer holidays have begun, and so too has the brainstorming for ways to keep our kids entertained over the coming weeks! Since most of us aren’t planning on going away on holiday this year, why not create your own little staycation in your back garden? After all, experiences are all about the people you’re with, and this is an easy way to spend some quality time with your family, plus, a toasted marshmallow tastes just as good wherever you are! So leave the electronics inside, and head outside for an alfresco adventure with the family!
To get you started, we’ve put together our top five tips for the ultimate back garden camping adventure!
Food and Drinks
Tip number one is snacks, snacks, and more snacks! Now we may be biased, but we think a good selection of Fruit Bowl snacks is the key to any great camping trip! To add to that family feeling, we also recommend bringing food that you can cook together round the campfire (or on the BBQ and use your imagination!) Don’t forget those all-important marshmallows for roasting/charring! For inspiration, check out the recipe page on our website for ideas like Sneaky Vegetable Beef Burgers and Marshmallow Brownies!
The Campsite
After your treacherous and tiring journey to the back garden, it’s time to set up camp! This may range from tipis, blankets and fairy lights, to more adventure style tents, sleeping bags and torches, but whatever your style, make sure you get the little campers involved with helping to set the campsite up! While you’re setting up, test out your sleeping spots, and make sure you’ve got all the supplies you need to spend the night and make any last trips for things you’ve forgotten.
Extra Blankets
The trick to back garden camping is to make it as cosy and comfortable as possible – you don’t want anyone giving up and going inside in the early hours because they’re too cold! Make sure you’ve got plenty of extra blankets for when the weather gets colder, and all pile in together for maximum cosiness!
Toys and Activities
Make sure to bring lots of toys and games to keep your little adventurers entertained. This can be anything from outdoor games like a football or cricket, bat and ball, to card games to play with the family, organising a mini scavenger hunt in the garden, or trying your hand at stargazing! Sense of Adventure
Arguably the most important part of all is to have a sense of adventure and use your imagination! Is it your back garden, or are you exploring the depths of a jungle? Is that the next-door neighbour’s cat outside your tent, or is it a tiger prowling? Most importantly, be sure to make lots of wonderful family memories of your time together, and maybe even make back garden camping a Summer tradition!
