Jungle Shoe Box

    Total time: 60 minutes.

1. Paint the inside of the shoe box with the green paint
2. While is this drying, take the green tissue paper, card and foam and cut out enough leaves to cover the bottom of the shoe box, each of the cardboard tubes and around the edges
3. Once the paint has dried, take the tissue paper leaves and cover the bottom of the shoe box
4. While the glue is drying, take the cardboard tubes and cut one of them 2/3 of the way up
5. Decorate the now 4 tubes with leaves made of card and tissue paper (you can leave the bottom of the tube showing if you want them to look like trees with trunks!)
6. Put to the side to dry
7. Now take the pipe cleaners and very carefully push one end through the top of the shoe box. Bend the end over the outside of the box so it doesn’t come loose
8. Repeat with the other end making sure the vine droops down inside the box
9. Repeat with numerous pipe cleaners, changing the distance between each end so they are different sizes
10. Cut a piece of green card and stick over the top of the box so you can’t see the ends of the pipe cleaners
11. Now make the magical Fruit Flake leaf! Cut out a large bush from some green card, making sure there is an additional centimetre at the bottom
12. Stick the colourful pom poms onto the leaf
13. Once the glue on the trees and magical Fruit Flake leaf is dry, arrange inside the shoebox making sure there is enough room for Max to swing on the vines
14. Stick to the bottom of the shoe box using PVA glue (to stick the magical Fruit Flake leaf; fold the additional centimetre of card backwards and cover in glue)
15. Finally, cut out a monkey from the darker brown card (using the light brown card for the face), making sure you give him an extra-long arm to hold on to the vines!
16. Add the googly eyes
17. Fold down a centimetre at the end of the arm and stick onto the top of the inside of the box
18. Now take the foam leaves you made earlier and carefully stick them around the top and side edges of the box using the PVA glue to finish
19. Why not make some other jungle animals to go in your diorama!
